Symbolism of the artwork "Vulnerability is love"

This painting is about embracing vulnerability and being open about who you are. It’s about daring to show your true self without apology. We often build walls to protect ourselves, concealing our fears and perceived flaws. However, I see vulnerability as an act of love—it allows you to be accepted for who you really are while creating a safe space for others to do the same. You are perfectly imperfect and you have nothing worth hiding that doesn't deserve compassion and understanding.

To apply it to real life, let me share an example from my daughter’s school. During a discussion on how to ensure all kids felt included and prevent loneliness, I suggested creating a parent group where we could share if we noticed our own child starting to struggle. Some parents felt uncomfortable with the idea of sharing such personal matters in a group setting.

While I understand this hesitation and the need for privacy, I am curious to what kind of supportive community we could create if we lead by example and showed the kids it is okay to be vulnerable.

By lowering our shields, we encourage others to do the same, creating a space where people feel safe to be themselves and where true connections can grow.
